Maree Harris and Myself (Wombat) started the Australian Laser Tag Titles last year in August. We were both on the original committee back in 2001 that helped take the Zone Groups National Event to the level it is at now with 30+ teams from around Australia and New Zealand participating in that event the last couple of years. Maree operates Funzone in Rockhampton, QLD, and I operate two stores under the banner Lazer Blaze in Western Australia. We’ve been in the industry for 25+ years.

Since joining the Laserforce Family we wanted to take this journey again, but learn from past mistakes, to ensure it’s an enjoyable, fair, fun, friendly tournament from day one. We succeeded last year with 4 sites attending and all the players raving about how much fun they had. They haven’t stopped talking about it since then and are keen for this next event.

Sites that get involved with the Titles are encouraged to use it as a marketing tool showing customers that there is more to Laser Tag than Birthday Parties. You can start a Members Night, League and/or Junior League, if you haven’t already. You can set requirements for your players that they must play in at least two season of your local League to qualify to go to the Titles Tournament. You can promote it as a sport to Corporate Customers. Teams/Players must seek approval from their local site to participate so you hold the power of using it as a marketing tool.

If you don’t think you can form a whole team of 6 players from your site then enter as many players as you have and we can help merge you with other players to form a full team. We also encourage Managers/Operators to think about attending just to find out what it’s all about and spend some time catching up with other Site Operators/Managers. It’s some of the best Laser Games you’ll ever play and a really social atmosphere, with a great bunch of people. We would even like to form an Operators/Manager team if we can get enough interest.

You might think August 21st is ages away, but it’s not, it’ll be here in no time so act now in promoting this National event and create increased local participation in your Leagues and Members’ Nights. It’s the right time to start arranging teams, book flights and accommodation. Nomination Forms and deposit are due 1st June.

Hosting this event can also help boost your local League and Members’ Nights. Each year will be at a different location. Your site has to have an Arena suitable for Tournament Play, you need to have an adequate amount of Battlesuits and a reasonable sized foyer to house the participants between games. Last year we had about 26 people at the tournament, this year we already have over 60 participants say they are coming from 6 different sites, but we’d love to have even more people attend for this week of fun by intense Laser Tag.

Mars & Myself will continue to run this event when hosted at the various sites, so don’t worry if you don’t have any experience in running Laser Tag Tournaments, we’ll get you to assist on a local level as much as you can and help you plan adequate staffing for the event as well as be there to run it. Some of the players can be great helpers/volunteers too.

Join us in making Laser Tag more than just a Birthday Party destination and build on the sport of Laser Tag around Australia and New Zealand. Although this is an Australian event, we do encourage visiting teams from Overseas and there have been rumours of some interested players from the U.S. for this year.
